Get ready to embark on an extraordinary journey through the cosmos! In this session we will be shadowing astronomers on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi as they use the Gemini North Telescope near the summit of Maunakea to journey through the universe.

Participants will be able to experience live nighttime observing of objects in space, which typically include objects in our solar system, in our own Milky Way galaxy, and faraway galaxies and black holes!

As opposed to “classical” observing nights that have been featured in most of the previous StS sessions, Gemini Observatory uses a “queue” observing mode where Gemini astronomers take observations on behalf of science teams from all over the world.

Get ready for special Journey Through the Universe-themed activities and interactive discussions you wouldn’t want to miss!
