Pathways to the Cosmos: Mutuality in Astronomy

For the October edition of the IAU Office for Astronomy Outreach series, "Pathway to the Cosmos," Christine Matsuda, from the Maunakea Observatories, and Kelly Blumenthal, Director of the Office for Astronomy Outreach, sat down for a conversation titled "Mutuality in astronomy: Transforming astronomy through community." Pathways to the Cosmos is a live series that opens the door to informal, heartfelt conversations around astronomy, public engagement, and inclusion. Each episode centers on real people and real experiences—celebrating diverse pathways into astronomy and addressing the urgent need for greater inclusion and representation in the field.

During this session, Christine and Kelly discussed their history and experiences working within the astronomy space while focusing on community and explored what mutuality means in that context.
